Who can delete what
- The Account Owner can delete the whole organisation: every user and all of the organisation's content, files and settings.
- Any other user can delete their own account. Their work stays with the organisation and moves to the Account Owner.
How to delete
- Sign in to SocialApp.
- Open your workspace's data management page: your workspace address followed by /settings/data-management. The Account Owner and Admins also find it in Settings, under More settings, as Data management. The Account Owner uses Delete organisation and all data; everyone else uses Delete my account.
- Confirm it is you with your password and, if two-factor authentication is on, a fresh code from your authenticator app.
- Type the organisation name (Account Owner) or your e-mail address, then confirm.
Cannot sign in?
Contact us with the e-mail address of the account. We may ask you to prove it is yours. We answer within 30 days.
What happens, and when
Deleting an organisation
- You confirm. The owner and every administrator get an e-mail, and a banner shows in the app.
- During the grace period of 7 days nothing is deleted yet. The Account Owner can cancel at any time from the same screen.
- After the grace period: the organisation is locked, everyone is signed out and the data is deleted. This usually takes minutes, and longer for very large accounts.
Deleting your own account
Straight away. You are signed out of every device and your personal details are removed.
What is deleted
- Your profile: name, e-mail address, phone number, avatar and settings.
- Your sign-in: password, two-factor setup, sessions, devices and push tokens, and API keys you created.
- For an organisation: everything stored for it, including users, teams, content, uploaded files, connected social accounts, integrations and their tokens, and settings.
What we keep, and why
- Invoices and payment records of your SocialApp subscription. The law requires us to keep these for tax and accounting: invoice numbers, dates, amounts, tax, payment references, and your company's legal name, address and tax number. E-mail addresses, phone numbers and contact names are removed. We keep them for 8 years after the end of the financial year, then delete them.
- A log of what our administrators and the deletion job did, with ids and counts only: no names, e-mail addresses or workspace content.
- Encrypted backups still hold older copies until they are overwritten as backups rotate. They are never restored except after a disaster.
- Anything we must keep to meet a legal obligation or to defend a legal claim.
Delete only some data
You do not have to delete your account to remove data. You can delete the items you no longer need at any time.
