Automate replies to comments and messages

Set up Auto DM for a Comment, Auto Reply to a Comment and Auto Reply to a DM with keywords, your own text or AI replies, delays, confirmation and limits.

Automations answer for you when a comment or a message matches a rule. Open Inbox, then Automation, and create an automation.

The three templates

  • Auto DM for a Comment: send a private message to people who comment on a post. Facebook and Instagram.
  • Auto Reply to a Comment: reply publicly to comments on a post. Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Auto Reply to a DM: answer direct messages to an account. Facebook and Instagram.

Set up a rule

  1. Choose the template, the account and, for comment templates, the post.
  2. Set the trigger: a keyword (up to 5; the text must contain one, in any case) or any word.
  3. Choose the reply: your own text, or an AI reply in a tone such as concise, friendly, grateful, empathetic, professional, apologetic or neutral.
  4. Choose when to send: at once, after a delay, or after a person confirms it.
  5. Switch it on and save.

One active automation is allowed per post, and one Auto Reply to a DM per account.

Limits that keep it safe

  • A rule runs once per comment or message, never on your own replies, and never on items older than 6 hours or from before the rule was switched on.
  • At most 3 automated replies per conversation a day and 60 per account an hour.
  • An automated message is only sent within Meta's 24-hour messaging window, so the DM delay can be at most 20 hours.
  • A locked workspace sends nothing.

AI replies use one AI credit each. When credits run out, the reply waits for you to confirm it later with Confirm Reply.
