Use your own domain

Verify a domain with a TXT record, point it to the app with a CNAME record, check progress with Refresh, and send the records to whoever runs your DNS.

With your own domain, such as app.youragency.com, your team and clients open the app at your address. Set it up in Settings, White Label, Domain & Email.

Custom domains show Not configured until the operator of your SocialApp installation has set up the address your domain should point to.

Step 1: prove the domain is yours

  1. Enter the domain. A pasted web address is reduced to its host name.
  2. Add the TXT record shown to your DNS: the name _domain-verify. followed by your domain, with the value shown.
  3. Choose Refresh to check. The claim is valid for 72 hours; after that, get a new value and try again.

Step 2: point the domain to the app

Once the domain is verified, add the CNAME record shown, pointing your domain to the address in the setup. If the operator provides a server address, an A record is shown as an alternative. Refresh checks the record; when it is right, the domain shows as deployed.

SocialApp checks your DNS at most once every 5 seconds, so wait a moment between refreshes. DNS changes can take a while to spread.

Send the records

If someone else manages your DNS, send the records by e-mail from the setup, with a message, to that person. A copy goes to you. Up to 10 such e-mails can be sent an hour.

Things to know

  • One domain per workspace. A domain verified by another workspace cannot be used, and neither can SocialApp's own addresses.
  • Certificates for your domain are issued by the operator's setup, for verified domains only.
  • Deleting the domain takes a little while and ends a migration.
