Queues, calendar and time slots

Share Now, Add To Queue and Share Next

The ways to publish a post: at once, at a set time, in the next free queue slot, or at the front of the queue, and which posts Share Next moves.

Create Post and Manage Posts offer several ways to decide when a post goes out.

Schedule Post

Pick a date, a time and a time zone. Add more rows, up to 10, to publish the same post several times. A time that has passed is refused with "Please select a future date and time."

Share Now

Publishes at once. It is not available while the account or the whole workspace is paused.

Add To Queue

Puts the post in the next free posting time of each selected account: the first time at least a minute from now that has no other waiting post of that account, fixed-time posts included. Each account gets its own time. If an account has no posting times, SocialApp says "Time slot for this account is not defined."

Share Next

Puts the post at the front of each account's queue: the first upcoming posting time that is not taken by a fixed-time post. The queued posts after it each move one posting time later, up to the first free time; posts after that gap keep their time.

Posts you scheduled for a fixed time never move, and neither does a post that is being published.

Using Share Next on a post that is already queued moves it from its own time to the front, so the queue turns around: a, b, c becomes c, a, b.

From Manage Posts

On a queued, failed or unscheduled post, the row's menu offers Share Now, Add To Queue, Share Next and a new date. A Content Scheduler's posts go through approval, so these actions are not offered to them.
