Connect networks
Connect a Bluesky profile with an app password
Connect Bluesky with your handle and an app password, why your account password is refused, and what Bluesky posts can and cannot include.
Bluesky is the one network that needs no developer app: you connect with an app password that you create in Bluesky. Never use your Bluesky account password; SocialApp refuses it.
Create an app password in Bluesky
- In Bluesky, open the settings for app passwords.
- Add a new app password and give it a name you will recognise, such as the name of your workspace.
- Copy the password. It looks like
xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx.
Connect the profile
- Open Accounts, then Connect Account.
- On the Bluesky card, choose Connect Profile.
- Enter your handle, for example
yourname.bsky.social(a leading @ is fine), and the app password. - Choose Connect.
The app password is stored encrypted and is never shown again. To reconnect later, enter a new app password for the same profile.
What you can post
- Text of up to 300 characters; links in the text are counted short.
- A link with a preview card.
- Up to 4 images. Images over 1 MB are compressed to fit Bluesky's limit.
Videos and GIFs cannot be published to Bluesky yet; the composer says so before you schedule. Bluesky has no inbox and no analytics page in SocialApp.
