Connect networks
Connect a YouTube channel
Connect your YouTube channel with a Google sign-in, what you can upload, how long videos can be and why custom thumbnails need a verified channel.
YouTube channels connect with a Google sign-in. The channel is saved as soon as you finish signing in.
Connect the channel
- Open Accounts, then Connect Account.
- On the YouTube card, choose Connect Channel.
- Sign in with the Google account that owns the channel and allow the permissions.
If SocialApp says you may not have created a YouTube channel, create the channel in YouTube first, then try again. The option shows Not configured until the operator of your installation has added the Google app keys.
What you can upload
- Videos and Shorts. A Short can be up to 3 minutes and should be vertical or square.
- A title (required, up to 100 characters), description, privacy (public, private or unlisted), category, license, tags, playlists, embedding, subscriber notification and made-for-kids setting.
- A custom thumbnail and a subtitle file.
Channel limits
SocialApp reads two settings from YouTube when you connect and at every refresh. A channel with long uploads enabled can upload videos up to 12 hours and set custom thumbnails. Other channels can upload up to 15 minutes, and the composer warns that changing the thumbnail is not supported.
After connecting
A post can include only one YouTube account. Published videos can be deleted from YouTube in Manage Posts. YouTube analytics, including views, watch time and subscribers, appear on the YouTube analytics page.
