Track links with UTM parameters
Create UTM parameter sets with a source per network, campaign, medium and custom parameters, set a default, and choose a set for each post.
On this page
UTM parameters add tracking to the links in your posts, so your web analytics can tell which network and campaign a visit came from. In SocialApp you save them as sets and pick a set for each post.
Create a set
- Open Setup, then UTM Parameters, and choose Add UTM Parameters.
- Give the set a name.
- Set the source. Dynamic fills in the network the post goes to, such as Facebook or LinkedIn; Custom uses your own value.
- Fill in the campaign and medium if you use them, and up to five custom parameters.
- Tick the default box to use this set on every new post, then save.
The URL preview shows what a link will look like.
Use a set in a post
In Create Post, Add UTM Parameters in the caption tools shows the workspace default. Pick another set, or None to send links without tracking. The parameters are added when the post is published, so a change to the set before then still applies.
Links that already carry UTM parameters are left as they are, and any part of the link after a # is kept.
Who can manage sets
Owners and Admins create, edit and delete sets. Everyone else sees the list and picks a set in the composer.
If a set is deleted after a post was scheduled with it, the post is published with plain links; nothing fails.
