A tour of Create Post

How the composer is laid out: accounts and groups on the left, the caption and media in the middle, previews on the right, and the buttons that publish.

Last updated 2 min read

Create Post opens over the page you are on, from the button in the header or from many other places, such as a day on the calendar. Closing it asks for confirmation; your work is kept in Drafts.

The three columns

  • Accounts on the left. Tick accounts, or open Groups to tick every account of a group. Search and Filter Accounts narrow long lists. Paused accounts and accounts that need a reconnect are marked.
  • Caption and media in the middle: the text, the caption tools, the media, the first comment and one options card per network.
  • Preview on the right: how the post will look on each selected network. Previews are close to the real result, but each network has the final say.

Rules are checked while you write

Each network has its own limits for text, media and post types. The counter under the caption shows the characters left for each network, counted the way that network counts. Problems appear in Needs Attention at the bottom: errors must be fixed before you can schedule, warnings can be dismissed.

Only one X account and one YouTube account can be in a post.

Publish the post

  • Schedule Post asks for a date, a time and a time zone. Add up to 10 rows to publish the same post several times.
  • Share Now publishes at once.
  • The menu next to Schedule Post has Add To Queue, Share Next and Repeat Post.
  • Schedule Draft keeps the post as a draft with a planned date.

A Content Scheduler's post, or a post on an account that needs approval, goes to Pending Review first instead of being scheduled.
